On April 16, 2025, Google opened up about its 2024 Ads Safety Report and revealed that it suspended around 2.9 million advertiser accounts in India and deleted a whopping 247.4 million ads violating its advertising policies. On the other hand, the company has suspended 39.2 million advertiser accounts, removed 5.1 billion ads from the registers worldwide, and restricted another 9.1 billion ads to make advertising safer globally.

"In India, 247.4 million ads were removed and 2.9 million advertiser accounts were suspended," the report said.

To fight against the policy violations of Google in 2024 enhanced its enforcement capacity by introducing more than fifty updates to its large language models (LLMs). Such advancements have expedited investigations into complex matters and ensured the speediest identification of malicious activities, such as fraudulent payment info during account setup. Google also stepped up its countermeasures to keep pace with the ever-evolving scams, particularly AI-generated ads impersonating public figures.

"The company also adapted its defense against ever-evolving scams, notably the rise of AI-generated public figure impersonation ads," Google said in a blog on the report.

A dedicated team of over 100 experts developed countermeasures, including updates to the misrepresentation policy, leading to the permanent suspension of over 700,000 offending advertiser accounts.

"This led to a 90 per cent drop in reports of this kind of scam ad last year," the blog said.

These efforts underscore Google’s commitment to maintaining trust and safety in its advertising platform while addressing sophisticated threats through advanced technology and policy enforcement.
