ideaForge Technology Ltd has entered into a strategic MoU agreement with Resonia Ltd (formerly Sterlite Grid 32 Ltd), to enable the deployment of drone and robotics technologies in power transmission infrastructure projects across India.
This partnership is a significant step in transforming how we survey, build, and maintain transmission towers and substations. The collaboration will combine IdeaForge's proven UAV capabilities and Resonia's execution leadership, spanning on-time delivery of complex power transmission projects. The relationship aims to reduce project timelines, improve worker safety, and achieve higher consistency of operations, especially in difficult environments and during high-risk activities.
Under the partnership, ideaForge will provide solutions based on drone technology to key applications in the power sector such as GIS surveys, route planning, construction monitoring, and live asset inspection. ideaForge's UAVs come with payloads that can have high-precision capabilities like LiDAR, multispectral, and hyperspectral sensors, enough to generate actionable insights to allow for better quality infrastructure planning and execution.
Additionally, ideaForge will develop and implement specific software packages to conduct real-time monitoring and health assessments of power transmission and distribution assets to predict the likelihood of potential failures and allow for predictive maintenance, further supporting the safety and reliability of the infrastructure.
A major area of innovation in the engagement will be the introduction of heavy-lift drones to facilitate the transport of materials and wire stringing in transmission projects. These activities have always been supported by either helicopters or manual labor, and therefore consist of some of there riskiest work in remote terrain. The introduction of drone enabled automation will improve efficiency, decrease costs, and improve worker safety.
