The Chambers of Commerce of Indonesia and Estonia signed a memorandum of understanding to promote bilateral cooperation in digital technology, food and beverage, and tourism.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and its counterpart chambers of commerce of Estonia on Tuesday at Kadin Tower in Jakarta, in the presence of Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

Bernardino M. Vega, Deputy Chair for International Trade at Kadin Indonesia, said Estonia wants to broaden its investment in Indonesia, especially in the digitally expanding economy of Indonesia as well as F&B and tourism.

“This MoU covers several areas with strong potential for cooperation, including digitalization, food and beverage, and tourism,” Vega said after the signing ceremony.

Foreign Minister Tsahkna said this high-level trade mission is a step to come closer to deepening ties in both nations that share a strong commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and mutually beneficial collaboration.

Tsahkna applauded Indonesia's direction in Southeast Asia and increasing presence on the international stage, particularly in the digital economy, an arena where Estonia is becoming more popular around the globe. Estonia leads Europe in terms of the number of unicorn startups per capita.

Companies like Skype, Playtech, Wise, Bolt, Pipedrive, Zego, ID.me, Gelato, Veriff, and Glia from this Baltic country are recognized internationally.
