- Nvidia and Perplexity partner with European firms to enhance localized AI models for businesses.
- Synthetic data generation aids AI model performance in languages with limited training data.
- Collaboration supports Europe’s “sovereign AI” push, leveraging Nvidia’s technology and Perplexity’s distribution.
Nvidia and Perplexity have formed an alliance with more than a dozen AI companies in Europe and the Middle East in an endeavor to create and deploy localized AI technologies. This partnership was announced at an AI event in Paris and is aimed at improving AI models in local languages to carry out advanced reasoning tasks to meet the rising need for custom AI applications in Europe.
The initiative involves working with model developers in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden to refine AI models for local languages. “AI technologies built in English and Chinese have started to shift to that technology, but that transition is more difficult in languages where less training data is available,” said Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI Software at Nvidia. To overcome this challenge, Nvidia will generate synthetic data in local languages to improve model performance.
Perplexity will distribute these enhanced models to European businesses, enabling them to operate on local data centers for tasks such as advanced research. “That’s the kind of system we are heading to in the future, where models are doing a few hours’ worth of work in one single prompt,” said Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas. Germany, Perplexity’s second-largest market by revenue, highlights the region’s strong desire for AI-driven solutions.

This collaboration supports Europe’s push for “sovereign AI” models that align with regional languages and regulatory standards, as noted in discussions on X. The effort includes collaboration with France’s H Company and utilizes Nvidia’s Nemotron and NIM microservices, hosted on regional infrastructure via Nvidia Cloud Partners.
While the financial details of the agreement remain confidential, this collaboration positions Nvidia and Perplexity as pivotal players in advancing Europe’s AI ecosystem, bridging the gap for non-English AI models and fostering innovation in localized AI applications.
